 Program Activities and Accomplishments

The Program Activities and Accomplishments over the years by the ACEF and the ACEF Trustees in service to the Fund's educational mission  are too numerous to detail comprehensively here, but some of the highlights include:

Scholarships for Academic Excellence  

Establishment and Funding of Scholarships for Academic Excellence – $100-$500 each per semester.

   $5,000-12,000 annually-may be based partially on financial need.

Application for the award is required.

Martin McVoy Jr., Scholarships -  The ACEF acts as the primary Adviser to Cornell on the Martin McVoy Jr Trust and directs income distributions to offset student loans and work/study.  $7,000-$15,000 is awarded annually to Alpha Delta Phi Brothers with demonstrated financial need. 

Application for the award is required.

Alpha Delta Phi, Cornell Tradition Fellowship - The ACEF

has conducted Fundraising and provided Matching Gifts for the AD Phi Cornell Tradition Fellowship endowment in excess of $50,000

Writing Prize Awards and Sponsorships  $100-$250 each

·         James E. Rice, Jr. ’30 Awarded each semester for excellence in expository writing in the mandatory First-Year Writing Seminars.

·         Adelphic award, which goes to the best essay written in a First-Year Writing Seminar by a student whose first language is other than English.

·         The ACEF /School of Hotel Administration Writing Awards Program, recognizes excellence in writing at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.

·         Matching Awards for Winners of ADPhi International Literary Prizes $50-$1000.

·         The ACEF//School of Engineering Writing Awards Program, recognizing excellence in writing within the Cornell College of Engineering. (Currently suspended due to the lack of an Engineering College faculty sponsor)


Student Loan Reduction InitiativeScholarship Awards provided as student loan forgiveness to qualified ADPhi Seniors. 2,3 or more awards per year for $2,000-$3,000 each, as funding permits.

Public Service Internships – In 7 of the first 10 years of the new century, a $1,750-$2,500 matching stipend has been provided to support an undergraduate interning in a Public Service position.


Educational Technology Support – Over $60,000 spent in past years to refurbish, outfit, and support computer technology and connectivity within the ADPhi Chapter house.

The ACEF has sponsored myriad speakers to the Cornell Campus including  - William H Buckley, (Conservative writer, columnist and political pundit) Julian Bond, (Civil Rights Activist), Chis Miller (Author, Playwright) and others.


Rhodes Scholar Grant – The ACEF Trustees have establish a $10,000 matching grant program for any member of ADPhi at Cornell winning a Rhodes Scholarship.  The matching grant is to be targeted to reduce the student scholar's existing loan debt.
